Why You Should Never Ride Solo in Business: The Power of Finding Your Pack

There’s a myth in the business world that just won’t die—the one about the “self-made” entrepreneur. You know the story: the lone wolf who grinds day and night, burns out, and somehow makes it to the top with nothing but grit and caffeine.
Spoiler alert: that myth is BS.
The truth? You’ll go further faster—and feel a hell of a lot more supported—when you ride with a badass crew beside you. Let’s talk about the power of community, collaboration, and why real, raw connection with other women entrepreneurs is the secret to staying in motion, even when the road gets bumpy.
The Solo Rider Trap
Yes, you can ride solo. You’re more than capable. But the real question is: do you want to?
When I started my business three or four years ago, I was grinding gears hard—working 12 to 16 hours a day, completely alone in my office. I was barely in first gear, constantly Googling how to do everything. It was lonely, exhausting, and honestly? I hit rock bottom. One night, I found myself on the floor, crying, wondering why I’d left my job for something that felt even harder.
That night was a turning point. I realized I didn’t want to do this alone anymore.
How I Found My Ride or Dies
From that point on, I said yes to every mastermind, accountability group, and community invite that came my way. It started with a free program, then a paid mastermind. Eventually, I was in weekly calls with three of my best friends, plus a few biker babes building businesses on the side.
Those women? They carried me. They lifted me up. And they helped me gain momentum in a way I couldn’t have done on my own.
We celebrated wins, brainstormed through blocks, launched businesses, got pregnant, survived health challenges—you name it. We grew together. And the support was priceless.
Why Masterminds Work
A good mastermind isn’t just a weekly check-in. It’s a goal-focused, high-accountability, collective problem-solving space where you tap into something called collective wisdom.
That means:
-
You get feedback from people who see your blind spots.
-
You hear new perspectives that shift your thinking.
-
You get solutions in minutes that might’ve taken you years to figure out on your own.
I’ll never forget one call where I was stuck on messaging for my business. A woman in the group—CEO of her own branding agency—gave me strategies that helped me launch my YouTube channel just weeks later. That’s the kind of momentum that only happens in a group like this.
Finding Your People (Online + IRL)
If you’re ready to find your pack, here are a few places to start:
-
Meetup.com – Great for niche interest groups.
-
Eventbrite – Look for local events or recurring business meetups.
-
Facebook groups – Especially local women’s groups or interest-based communities (like motorcycle groups for women entrepreneurs!).
Pro tip: Post a photo of yourself doing what you love, write a short but specific bio, and make a clear ask. For example:
“Hey! I ride a Honda Africa Twin and love off-road adventures. Anyone want to join me for a 2-hour ride to the state park this Saturday?”
Be bold. Be specific. Your people will find you.
Remember: You Won’t Be Everyone’s Cup of Tea
Not every group will be the right fit—and that’s a good thing. Think of the motorcycle world: there are so many subcultures—chopper lovers, dirt bikers, vintage collectors, custom builders. The same is true in business. Your vibe will attract your tribe, and that’s what creates true connection.
If the first group doesn’t feel right, keep looking. Your ride or dies are out there.
